It just hit me that a lot of business failure comes down to entrepreneurs developing ideas and solutions that had no problems in the first place. Entrepreneurs have to keep wondering at every stage of the idea testing; “what problem are we solving?” There’s a huge chance you end up with a business solution in search of a problem. And that’s the worst fix, trying to stumble on a problem for your solution. Sometimes the gamble pays off, but you don’t want to be gambling! You want to be certain of your problem. You want to make the right diagnosis.
Sometimes problem definition comes down to the 5W1H. What is the problem? Where is the problem? Who is having this problem? Why is it even a problem? When does this problem happen, the patterns? How big is this problem?
